This post is about voting.
Imagine that.
If you’ve been part of The Gay Vegans blog for even a short while, you know that I often write about voting.
Every day I see news stories of voters being taken off of a voter’s list. Or college students no longer being able to vote with their college ID. Or some backroom deal like in Georgia that has to do with certifying election results.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist. This is not that.
The elected officials who support the last President and who see the writing on the wall are doing everything they can to make it more difficult to vote.
This means that not only do we have to win, we need to win everywhere with higher numbers than in 2020.
For this to happen, I urge you to spread the word about all of these obstructions being placed, and urge everyone you know, regardless of which state they live in, to double-check their voter registration.
People who have voted in every election and have not moved in decades are finding that their registration has been removed.
If you would like to read about the lawsuits happening in support of voting rights, check out Marc Elias’ website, Democracy Docket.
In most cases, it’s a simple check on your state’s Secretary of State website.
I know that the Democrats can win this November. Not just the Presidency, but all over the ballot. I even think now that we have a chance to keep the Senate.
When all of us with basic human empathy vote, when those who know we can do better vote, when those who care about their neighbors’ vote, and when those who believe women are the only decision-makers for their health, we win.
We must be registered to win.

Hey Dan, thank you for this. Do you happen to know where there is a vegan voting guide for Los Angeles? I know we likely have to choose the lesser evil but perhaps you know the candidates who are the most pro animal? Thanks again
Hi Oliver! No, I haven’t seen one focused on animal issues.
