The Gay Vegans

About

Gay and vegan in the burbs (of Los Angeles). I blog about veganism, equality, compassion, activism, politics, spirituality and the awesome life experiences of The Gay Vegans. The “s” includes my husband, Mike! I believe that we all have more in common than not and that we all have the power to be the voice of the voiceless. I want this blog to be a tool for me to build bridges amongst communities and those with differing opinions.

We live in Monrovia, CA and share our home with Agnes, Nadia and Ludwig the dogs. Monrovia is just east of Pasadena and we LOVE where we live.

I am a nonprofit fundraising consultant. Mike is an orchestra teacher and teaches grades 4 – 12. We both very much love our jobs.

Why The Gay Vegans blog? Well, if you have been reading any of our blog posts since our first one in June of 2011 you know a bit of the answer to this. If this is the first time reading our blog, here you go! We wanted to add our voices to the variety of issues that affect gay and vegan people. From politics to compassion to action, we write about it all. There are many amazing vegan food blogs out there and we are not one of them. Once in a while I will post one of Mike’s fabulous recipes, but I mainly write about politics, about getting politically active, being a voice for the voiceless, places we love to go to find the best vegan food, as well as overall being a gay, vegan couple in the suburbs.

We have been thrilled to engage our readers with finding out who speaks for them in their state house or state senate, and further engaging when they introduce themselves to those who represent them.

So if you just found our blog, welcome! if you have been reading for a while, thank you!

Our twitter account is @thegayvegans and you can connect with us there.

Thank you!
