We Voted Today

Another chance to fight the fascists.

After an hour or so of reviewing our sample ballots and making sure I understood everything, Mike and I filled out our choices for the candidates, propositions, and judges. Then we took our mail-in ballots to the library, where there’s a ballot box, and excitedly dropped them in.

Well, I may have been more excited than Mike. Voting is HUGE for me. I love it. And with everything going on in our country these days, it’s one thing I can do to hopefully create change and fight the current government.

I voted to support my trans siblings.

I voted to support candidates at the state and federal level who are fighting or will fight against the current administration.

I voted in hopes of abolishing ICE.

I voted to fund our public schools.

I voted against supporters of the current administration.

I voted against those who have enough and always want more.

I voted against those who wage war against women, minorities, immigrants, and those in the LGBTQ+ communities.

I’ll volunteer on a couple of campaigns before election day and probably make a couple more donations.

And when, after election day, there are hopefully great results around the country, I’ll fight to ensure the results stand and democracy continues.
