Restaurant review – Maciel’s plant based butcher shop

LA friends! Mike and I were lucky to go to Maciel’s in Highland Park on their opening weekend and I am super excited.

I typically don’t write restaurant reviews until I have been to the restaurant a couple of times. Making an exception here, mainly because our experience was so good and they are brand new.

Mike had read about Maciel’s on social media, how they had closed after only three hours the day prior due to running out of food, so we were there right at opening. It was lovely seeing a line!

Once in, we were greeted by friendly staff who easily answered any of our questions. There is a lot to choose from and we ended up ordering two sandwiches (The Italian and the Flores) along with a side of potato salad, an agua fresca (the pineapple ginger) and the Mexican chocolate mousse.

We loved our sandwiches. Mike’s Italian had all of the typical deli meats, all full of flavor. The Flores was perfect for me, packed with flavor and enough for lunch along with some potato salad. Our neighbors at the table were delighted with their Ruben.

Alongside the sandwiches and sides, you can also purchase the meats and cheeses separately to take home with you.

The restaurant was super clean and was the restroom.

And as always, my reviews are also based on kindness of staff. Here at Maciel’s we were warmly welcomed and treated as guests. We don’t take that for granted.

We highly recommend Maciel’s. Check them out on social media for updates.

Thanks for reading!
